Dear Uncle Jimmy;

I find no pleasure in writing you this letter, but my desire is to do the Will of the Father in Heaven. In fact, as it concerns you, I was also obedient to His instruction by sending you the two post cards; ”The Pill” and “Thinking Of You”. Both of those post cards presented a picture of your spiritual life. However, they must not have accomplished what the Good Lord intended, because the following Scripture is what He gave me for you this morning:

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” (Matthew 25:41-46 KJV)

Now I realize that it will be extremely hard for you to come to grip with the reality of what I’m about to say, but please listen carefully…because you are not prepared to die! I mean, after all, you are a pillar in the church and community, but God says Heaven will not be your everlasting home.

You see, Uncle Jimmy, the reason that I’ve been instructed to say all this is because of the fact that you do not have the love of Jesus in your heart. You might have a form of godliness, but you deny the power thereof (II Timothy 3:5).

Now please don’t take me wrong with what I’m about to say. I am a prophet called of God, and I fully expect to be rejected by most. I mean it’s a given; it comes with the territory:

“For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.” (John 4:44 KJV)

So, what I’m about to say is not to make you like me; I’m saying it to save your life!

You see it was in 1999 that I lost my Engineering Manager position with The Toro Company as a direct result of my speaking what “thus saith the Lord” to the CEO. I spoke God’s Truth, and lost my job, but God was very pleased with my sacrifice! [*“Snakes In The Toro Company!”*]

Then in 2001 my wife divorced me because I obeyed God by not getting another job. I lost my income, and I lost my wife, but God was very pleased with my sacrifice! [*“A Christian's Divorce!”*]

But let’s not forget 2002 when I became homeless for Jesus. As a result of my continued obedience to the Father, I lost my apartment and all my possessions that were contained therein, but God was very pleased with my sacrifice! [*“Homeless For Jesus!”*]

And then came 2003 when the Lord commanded me to take a wife of whoredoms. The Father gave me His love for Sandy, which I gave to her, but 86 days later she returned to her life of whoredoms. I was then instructed to tell the world about our very unusual and unaccepted marriage made in Heaven, (which I did), and God was very pleased with my sacrifice! [*“A Christian Marriage Outside The Law!”*]

But what about 2004? That was the year I obeyed the Father by not submitting to the demands of an ungodly Family Court system…and because of it I went to jail. In fact I was incarcerated for 113 days before the Almighty busted me out. And God was very pleased with my sacrifice! [*“Jesus Was An Outlaw...And So Am I!”*]

Now there are many more instances I could give you concerning my obedient walk with God, and the suffering that ensued, but I won’t. Because you see what I’ve already given you is enough to cover everything discussed in God’s chosen Scripture for you (Matthew 25:41-46). You see I experienced all those things for Jesus, but yet you looked at me as a ‘heathen lost in sin receiving his just reward.’ I mean for some strange reason you could not see the Spirit of God in me, and likewise receive the love of Jesus that I had for you during our meetings of 2004.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV)

So why have you judged me to be unrighteous, Uncle Jimmy? Well the answer to that one is easy. You’re still living under the law”:

“But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.” (Romans 7:6 KJV)

“…not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV)

“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Romans 10:4 KJV)

“But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.” (Galatians 3:11 KJV)

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.” (Galatians 3:10-11 KJV)

“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” (Galatians 2:16 KJV)

“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” (Galatians 5:4 KJV)

“But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:18 KJV)

I love you enough, Uncle Jimmy, to tell you the truth. Please don’t go to Hell!

In the Lord Jesus Christ,

Bruce (and Sandy)

Liberty by the Holy Spirit

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2Co_3:17)

As we have seen, the old covenant of law produces spiritual bondage in those who attempt to live under it. The great heavenly remedy for that bondage is the new covenant of grace, because it produces spiritual liberty. This liberty is a work of the Holy Spirit. "Now the Lord is the Spirit." The life-giving Lord of grace is the Spirit of God: "the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life" (2Co_3:6).

Living by rules and regulations ("of the letter") has a deadening, binding spiritual effect on people. This is how the Pharisee's "ministered." "For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders" (Mat_23:4). Jesus came to liberate people, to set them free. This is why Jesus ministered by the Holy Spirit. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed" (Luk_4:18). As Jesus, the Son of God, humbly served the Father, the Holy Spirit empowered Him to rescue captives, to release the oppressed.

Rescuing people from sin and unrighteousness is the fundamental, liberating work of Jesus. "And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness" (Rom_6:18). Now, we are free to grow in a life of righteousness. Our newfound freedom is not for personal indulgence. It is for the serving the Lord. "As free, yet not using your liberty as a cloak for vice, but as servants of God" (1Pe_2:16). Now that we are free, we can use our freedom to lovingly minister to others. "For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another" (Gal_5:13).

Another wonder of Christ's rescuing, liberating work is that He wants to save us from self-dependent striving to develop a life of godliness and loving service. He accomplishes this by the work of the Holy Spirit. "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death" (Rom_8:2). As we walk in humble dependence, the Holy Spirit imparts to us the life that is in Christ Jesus. This liberates us from the tendency to rely upon fleshly human resources, which are inadequate (due to sin and spiritual deadness).

Dear God of all spiritual liberation, I praise You for setting me free from sin and the service of self. Now I ask You to work in and through me by Your Holy Spirit, setting me free from self-striving in my service of You, in Jesus name, Amen.
