The following letter-form was brought about as a means of teaching my children the Word of God through the mail. And of course, quite naturally so, that’s the reason I begin these letters with "Dear Children" and end them with "Love Dad". So for the rest of you who participate in these weekly messages, please keep their original intended purpose in mind.

20 July, 2010

Dear Children (Arthur, Hadassah, Yamel, Jasmine, Marta, Luis, and Felix),

Please accept my apology for all the times I listened to and believed in Annie’s lies, especially as it concerned you. I have done you a terrible injustice.

“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4 KJV)

Now, please let me explain my motivation for writing you this letter of apology.

On the 23rd of May 2010, your sister Yamel gave her life to Jesus. And as you all know, it was one month later (6/23/10) that Annie breathed her last breath and gave up the ghost and died. A few days after Annie’s death the Lord told me to ask Yamel to pray about whether or not there was any sin in my life that hasn’t been put under the Blood of Jesus. That was the prayer Yamel prayed, and it was only hours ago that she gave me God’s answer to my question:

“You have never asked for his forgiveness or for you're childrens forgiveness, for listening to Annies demons, Annies convincing demon, Annies lying demon, in which she used you dad to partially destroy the family and get what she wanted!”

So with that in mind, I have asked God to forgive me, and now I ask the same of you.

My marriage to Annie was not what God wanted for me in the first place, but she was what I chose to satisfy the sinful desires of my flesh. It was because of my initial sin in marrying Annie that all of you received the repercussions of my sin later on in one form or another.

Hallman Family

If you look closely at me in our famous newspaper photo you will see a young man with lots of pride. That was almost twenty years ago, and I thank God that He is working on me and in me to get that pride out.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 John 2:15-17 KJV)

I am now 61 years old and realizing the rewards of my sins. The payback for sins isn’t cheap! In fact one of my health problems is a direct result of me being disobedient to my mother. She told me (a redhead) to stay out of the sun, but I wanted to get a tan like all the other kids. Well, I never did get my tan, but I sure did get the cancers. It’s a little like leprosy as my face is slowly eaten away by the skin cancers. Very humbling: an effective way to get rid of my pride.

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” (Ephesians 6:1-3 KJV)

In closing, if you feel my apology is too general in nature, I will be glad to address whatever specific situations in which you feel I need to apologize. Please, just let me know.

Now that God has taken Annie from this earth, let us heal the wounds that have been festering for way too long in our family. (See “In Memory Of Annie!” for more on this subject.)

Love,

Dad (Bruce Hallman)
